2. Institutional Framework & Impartiality
Legal Authority, Governance & Related Entities
The Lithuanian National Accreditation Bureau (LA) is the sole national accreditation body of the Republic of Lithuania. It operates under the Ministry of Economy and Innovation in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 765/2008 and is organised to satisfy ISO/IEC 17011:2017.
Legal authority & statutes
- The Bureau performs accreditation as a public function delegated by legal act; its statutes, organisational rules and the accreditation procedure rules are published and available on request from the Registry.
- Accreditation decisions are made in the name of the Bureau under its own responsibility and are not delegated to any commercial entity.
Governance & ownership structure
- Director → Accreditation Decision Committee → technical secretariat and sectoral expert pools; the organisational chart and reporting lines are maintained in the Document Library.
- There is no private ownership interest: the Bureau is a publicly funded institution with no shareholders.
Related entity safeguards
- Relations with the supervising ministry are governed by the statutes; the ministry does not intervene in individual accreditation decisions and receives only aggregate reporting.
- Personnel and committee members sign conflict-of-interest and confidentiality declarations on appointment and annually thereafter.
