Terms & Conditions, Rights and Obligations

Standard terms & conditions

The relationship between the Bureau and a conformity assessment body is governed by the accreditation agreement and the published Rules for Accreditation, which together form the master contractual framework. They cover scope, fees, use of the accreditation mark, confidentiality, liability, suspension and withdrawal of accreditation, and dispute resolution.

CAB rights

  • Right to a fair, impartial process and to a written, reasoned decision.
  • Right to object to proposed technical assessors on documented conflict-of-interest grounds.
  • Right to appeal negative decisions (see Complaints & Appeals) and to comment on findings before a decision is taken.
  • Right to confidentiality of technical and commercial information.

CAB obligations

  • Notify the Bureau within 10 working days of changes to key personnel, ownership, legal status, equipment, locations or the scope of activities.
  • Pay fees when due; make records and personnel available for assessment; report significant events affecting competence (complaints, PT failures, incidents).
  • Use the accreditation mark only per the mark rules and never claim that products themselves are accredited.

NAB obligations

  • Confidentiality of all information obtained; professional, impartial conduct; service delivery within published timelines.
  • Inform the CAB of planned assessment programmes, applicable requirements and any changes affecting its accreditation.
